Fabio is a British Drum 'n' Bass DJ and occasional producer, born in September 1964. He was a former resident DJ at influential club nights such as Speed, Tempo, and Promised Land, and served as a resident DJ and promoter at Swerve. Fabio has hosted radio shows on Phase One, Radio 1, Kiss FM, and Rinse FM. He is also the founder and owner of his own label. His nickname, "Fabio," originated during his time on the Brixton-based pirate station Phase One around 1984 when he was asked to come up with a DJ name before his first show. Recalling a conversation about baby names, he chose "Fabio" and introduced himself as "DJ Fabio," a name that has since become synonymous with his identity. Fabio is recognized for pioneering a style of Drum 'n' Bass he named 'liquid,' inspired by the hip hop group's description of their music as 'liquid funk.'
