Fad Gadget, born on 8 September 1956 in London, was the first artist signed to Mute Records. His groundbreaking single "Back To Nature" was released as Mute's second single in October 1979. Known for his physically intense live shows, he often injured himself during performances. After releasing the album "Gag" in 1984, he decided to drop the stage name in favor of his real name. In 2001, the release of "The Best of Fad Gadget" and his support on the Exciter Tour appeared to facilitate a relaunch of his career as Fad Gadget. Unfortunately, he passed away from a heart attack at the age of 45 on 3 April 2002 at his home in London.
