Fattburger is a jazz group known for its jazz-funk, contemporary jazz, and jazz fusion styles. The band was formed in the early 1980s in San Diego by saxophonist Hollis Gentry, keyboardist Carl Evans Jr., bassist Mark Hunter, drummer Kevin Koch, and guitarist Steve Laury. Percussionist Tommy Aros later joined the group. After their debut album, Hollis Gentry left to pursue a solo career but returned as a part-time member in the 1990s. Following the release of "Come & Get It," Steve Laury also left to focus on his solo career. This led to their next album, "On a Roll," being the first recorded as a four-piece band, although studio guitarists Kiko Cibrian and Mark Shapiro contributed. Evan Marks became a permanent member in 1995. Tragically, Hollis Gentry passed away on September 5, 2006, and Carl Evans Jr. died on April 10, 2008. Fattburger reunited for a performance at the Anthology jazz club on June 26, 2009, with Allan Phillips taking over as the new keyboardist.
