Fear Factory is a Groove Metal/Industrial Metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1989. The band was initially called Ulceration, founded by Dino Cazares (guitar) and Raymond Herrera (drums). Later, Burton C. Bell (vocals) and Christian Olde Wolbers (bass) joined, and the band changed its name to Fear Factory. Influenced by British Grindcore and extreme music, including bands like Napalm Death and Godflesh, Fear Factory has pioneered a unique blend of Death Metal, Industrial Metal, Alternative Metal, and electronic music. Their debut album, "Concrete," was recorded in 1991 but not released until 2002, marking the first production job for Ross Robinson, who would go on to produce notable bands like Korn and Slipknot. The band experienced a break-up in 2002 due to strong personal differences but re-formed a year later, with bassist Christian Olde Wolbers taking over guitar duties and Byron Stroud from Strapping Young Lad stepping in as the live bassist. Another hiatus occurred in 2006. In 2009, Fear Factory made a comeback with founding member Cazares rejoining the band, although Herrera and Wolbers were no longer part of the lineup. Burton C. Bell departed from the band in late 2020, and on February 21, 2023, Fear Factory announced the recruitment of Milo Silvestro as their new vocalist.
