Fear Itself was a short-lived psychedelic blues-rock band formed in the late 1960s in Atlanta, Georgia, by Ellen McIlwaine. The band featured McIlwaine on lead vocals, harmonica, rhythm guitar, and organ, with Chris Zaloom on lead guitar, Bill McCord on drums, and Steve Cook on bass guitar. Cook played on the band's sole album, the self-titled "Fear Itself," before being replaced by Paul Album, who also played bass. The album was produced by Tom Wilson and released in 1968 by Dot Records. It marked the only release from the band, which disbanded following the death of bassist Paul Album. Ellen McIlwaine went on to pursue a solo career after the group's breakup. The album was re-released on CD in 2006 by World IN Sound under license from Geffen Records.
