Fifty Foot Hose is a psychedelic rock group from San Francisco, formed in 1967 and disbanded in 1970, with a reformation in 1995. They are known for combining rock sounds with electronic instruments and avant-garde compositional ideas, and are recognized as precursors to later bands. The original lineup included founder and bassist Louis "Cork" Marcheschi, guitarist David Blossom, and vocalist Nancy Blossom, along with drummer Kim Kimsey and guitarist Larry Evans. Marcheschi and Blossom were part of the Mills College Tape Music Center, which gave them access to various innovations, and Marcheschi also created his own theremins and audio generators, contributing to their unique sound. In 1995, Marcheschi reformed the group for live performances in San Francisco with new musicians, leading to the release of the album Live & Unreleased, followed by the studio album Sing Like Scaffold in 1997. This later lineup included Marcheschi, Walter Funk III, Reid Johnston, Lenny Bove, Elizabeth Perry, and Dean Cook. Funk and Johnston later formed the avant-garde electronic band Kwisp, which also featured Marcheschi on their first album.
