Fila Brazillia is a musical duo formed in 1990 by David 'Man' McSherry and Steve Cobby. They began recording together to escape the constraints of traditional band dynamics, opting for a more fluid and enjoyable creative process. Their early work was characterized by spontaneous sonic experiments, treating sounds as "objet trouvé" with a hobbyist attitude. The duo caught the attention of Dave Brennand, who wanted to release one of their compositions. At that time, they needed a name, and inspired by a misheard radio mention of the fila brasiliero dog breed during a media frenzy, they adopted the name Fila Brazillia. Their first single, "Mermaids," was released in Spring 1991, marking the start of a prolific decade that produced seven acclaimed albums, numerous singles on Pork Recordings, and over 60 remixes.
