Fila Brazillia is a musical duo formed in 1990 by David 'Man' McSherry and Steve Cobby. Initially, their collaborations were infrequent and spontaneous, as both were involved in conventional bands. Seeking to escape the constraints of the traditional music process, they embraced a more fluid and enjoyable approach to recording. This led to a creative period characterized by sonic experiments and a hobbyist attitude toward music production. Their first single, "Mermaids," was released in Spring 1991 after Dave Brennand expressed interest in a piece they had composed. The duo needed a name for their project, and the name "Fila Brazillia" was inspired by a misheard radio reference to the fila brasiliero dog breed during a media frenzy. Over the next decade, Fila Brazillia released seven highly acclaimed albums, numerous singles on Pork Recordings, and over 60 remixes.
