Fila Brazillia is a musical duo formed in 1990 by David 'Man' McSherry and Steve Cobby. They sought to escape the constraints of traditional band dynamics, opting for a more fluid and enjoyable approach to music creation. Their early collaborations were spontaneous and experimental, leading to a unique sound that treated all sounds as "objet trouvé." The duo caught the attention of Dave Brennand, who wanted to release one of their compositions. At that time, they needed a name, and inspired by a misheard radio segment about the fila brasiliero dog breed, they adopted the name Fila Brazillia. Their first single, "Mermaids," was released in Spring 1991, marking the start of a prolific decade during which they produced seven acclaimed albums, numerous singles on Pork Recordings, and over 60 remixes.
