Flies Inside The Sun is a New Zealand band that emerged in 1993, rooted in the free-improv and drone music scene. The band was formed by Kim Pieters and Peter Stapleton, who were previously part of a disbanded group, and they brought in Brian Crook and Danny Butt. Their debut LP was released on Kranky. After Brian Crook's departure, the band disbanded for the first time but reunited in 1997, subsequently releasing several albums on Peter Stapleton's label, Metonymic.
