Flipper is an American punk band formed in 1979 in San Francisco, California. The original lineup included members whose names are not specified, and after a few months, one member was replaced. The band released two classic albums, "Generic Flipper" and "Gone Fishin'," but went on hiatus in 1987 following the death of Will Shatter from a heroin overdose. In 1990, Flipper reunited with a new bassist and released one more album titled "American Grafishy." However, they disbanded abruptly in 1994 due to Loose sustaining a serious back injury. Dougherty tragically died from a heroin overdose in 1997. In 2005, the band reformed at Dougherty's place. In 2006, a new bassist joined the group, and in 2009 they released their fourth album, "Love." Loose retired from the band in 2015, and his position was taken by a member of another band. After a long-time friend filled in on bass for a while, a new bassist took over.
