Florence Price was an American classical composer, pianist, organist, and music teacher, born on April 9, 1887, in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. She passed away on June 3, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Notably, she was the first African-American woman to be recognized as a symphonic composer. Price received her education at the New England Conservatory of Music and composed over 300 works, including four symphonies, four concertos, choral works, art songs, chamber music, and music for solo instruments.
