The Floyd Dakil Combo was formed in 1959 in Dallas, Texas, and became known by that name in 1962. The band achieved national success in 1964 with their hit single "Dance Franny Dance." Over the years, they changed their name several times, including variations such as The Floyd Dakil Four and Floyd Dakil & The Pitmen. Despite their initial success, the band struggled to replicate it and ultimately broke up in 1967. The members of the band included Floyd Dakil on vocals and guitar, Andrew Michlin and Laurie Michlin on piano, Jeff West on drums, Ronnie Randall on guitar, and Terry Billings on bass.
