Foo Fighters is an alternative rock band hailing from Seattle, Washington, USA. Formed in 1994, the band initially started as a one-man project by Dave Grohl. Over the years, it evolved into a full band with a lineup that has seen several changes. The current members include Dave Grohl on vocals and rhythm guitar since 1994, Nate Mendel on bass since 1995, Pat Smear on rhythm guitar, who has had two stints with the band (1995-1997 and 2006-present), Chris Shifflett on lead guitar and backing vocals since 1999, Rami Jaffee on keyboards since 2017, and Ilan Rubin on drums starting in 2025. Former members include William Goldsmith on drums from 1995 to 1997, Franz Stahl on lead guitar and backing vocals from 1997 to 1999, Taylor Hawkins, who played drums and provided backing vocals from 1997 until his passing in 2022, and Josh Freese, who was on drums from 2023 to 2025.
