Four Piece Suit is an instrumental band formed in 1996 by saxophonist David Sholl, drummer Lorne Entress, bassist Dean Cassell, and guitarist Milt Reder. The band is known for its genre-busting approach, blending classic American art forms such as jazz, blues, swing, and R&B. Their debut album, Ready to Where?, was released on Ocean Music and received exceptional critical acclaim. As the swing revival gained momentum, Four Piece Suit's popularity grew, leading them to open for notable acts like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. They contributed to various high-profile swing and lounge compilations, earned a spot on a Grammy ballot for a Henry Mancini cover, and provided music for numerous film and television projects, including HBO's Sex and the City. In 1999, they released their sophomore album, Matinee Idylls, further solidifying their reputation in the cinematic music scene.
