Fragment. (official capitalization) is a French band formed in Lyon by Thierry Arnal in 2005. Initially active as a solo project, it transitioned to a duet in late 2015 with the addition of Pascal Bertier on bass, releasing their final album, "Nothing Will Ever Be The Same," before disbanding in 2016. Since its inception, fragment. has released numerous EPs, LPs, and audiotapes across Italy, Belgium, Japan, and Canada. The band is known for blending heavy guitar sounds with ethereal vocals, drawing influences from drone, shoegaze, and metal, particularly from Godflesh and Low, positioning themselves as a notable French counterpart to Jesu. In 2010, they gained recognition with the "Bittersweet" split CD/LP released by Denovali Records, in collaboration with Iroha, a project of Andy Swan that includes members from Jesu and ex-Final. In 2011, fragment. released "Home," a two-track album lasting 50 minutes, in collaboration with Nicolas Dick from Kill The Thrill. Before forming fragment., Thierry Arnal and Pascal Bertier recorded their first album, "Dogma," in their home studio in early 1999, which was made available for free download in 2001.
