Franco Califano was an Italian songwriter, singer, poet, and actor, born on September 14, 1938, in Tripoli, Libya. He passed away on March 30, 2013, in Rome, Italy. Originally from Pagani in the province of Salerno, Califano was born by chance on an airplane over the Libyan capital during the time when Libya was an Italian colony.
