Frank Emilio was a renowned Cuban jazz pianist, born in Havana, Cuba, on April 13, 1921. He was blind but became one of the great connoisseurs of Cuba's native rhythms, excelling as an interpreter of the works of composers such as Saumell, Cervantes, and Ernesto Lecuona. In the 1940s, he was associated with the "filin" movement, contributing significantly to the development of Latin jazz. His performances spanned clubs, cabarets, radio, and television, and he showcased his talent in various countries. Frank Emilio passed away on August 23, 2001.
