Frank Hunter was an American trombonist, band leader, and arranger, born on October 19, 1919, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He passed away on December 15, 2005. Hunter was a veteran of the big band scene who transitioned to studio work, gaining recognition starting in 1941 while playing trombone and co-arranging for the bands of Al Donahue and Johnny Warrington. His significant break came in the late 1940s when he arranged for Elliot Lawrence's Orchestra. In the mid-1950s, he collaborated with various labels and artists, including Top Rank, Johnny Hartman, Ketty Lester, Carmen McCrae, Eddie Fisher, and Eddie Heywood. He spent several years at Kapp Records, arranging for Roger Williams, Anita Darian, and Joe Harnell. After leaving Kapp, he continued to work with a range of artists, including Pat Boone, Chad and Jeremy, and the Quinto Sisters, and he also composed music for commercials. Between 1973 and 1975, Hunter served as the musical director for The Mike Douglas Show.
