Fred Ramirez, born in Los Angeles, began his classical piano training at the age of six. At 16, he purchased a Musser Vibraphone and taught himself to play by listening to various artists. His talent as a pianist and vibraphonist quickly gained recognition in the L.A. jazz scene, leading him to perform in nightclubs. Throughout the 60s and 70s, he played with various bands and toured extensively across the United States. Over his extensive career, he collaborated with many notable figures in jazz and Latin music. Fred led his own Latin jazz ensemble and was a frequent guest at numerous festivals and jazz clubs until the early 2000s. In 1967, he released two singles featuring cover versions of well-known soul and jazz songs, showcasing his unique piano style. He was also a member of a nine-piece band that was signed directly in the recording studio by one of the founders of Atlantic Records, resulting in the release of an LP in 1972. In 1995, he released an album titled "A Tribute to Legends of Latin Jazz," honoring musicians who influenced him, accompanied by a multi-piece orchestra. A live CD recorded at the Steamers Jazz Club in California followed in 2002.
