Freddi Henchi & the Soul Setters were a dynamic soul and funk band formed in the 1960s by Freddie Gowdy (Freddi Love) and Marvin “Henchi” Graves. Initially based in Phoenix, Arizona, and later in Boulder, Colorado, the group earned a reputation for their electrifying live shows that blended soul, funk, and early rock influences. Dubbed “The Crown Princes of Funk,” they toured nationally, sharing stages with artists like Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin, and became a foundational force in Colorado’s vibrant funk and R&B scene.
