Freddie Hubbard was an American jazz trumpeter and bandleader, born on April 7, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He gained recognition primarily for his contributions to bebop, hard bop, and post-bop styles beginning in the early 1960s. In addition to these genres, he also explored jazz fusion in the 1970s. Hubbard passed away on December 29, 2008, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 70.
