Fruko, born on July 7, 1951, in Medellín, is a Colombian composer, producer, performer, and bandleader. He began his musical journey in 1965, recording with a group for seven years. Initially known as Joselito, he earned the nickname Fruko due to his resemblance to a character from a canned food advertisement for Fruco tomato sauce, which claimed to be "the secret of flavour." In the 1970s, he formed a band known for being "the tough guys of the neighborhood," referred to as "teso."
