Fruko y sus Tesos is a renowned salsa group from Colombia, formed in 1970 by Julio Ernesto Estrada, known artistically as "Fruko." The group draws inspiration from the New York City salsa sound of the Fania All-Stars and has gained immense popularity throughout Latin America and the United States. Recognized as one of Colombia's most significant musical exports, Fruko y sus Tesos is a favorite among salsa and Latin soul DJs worldwide. The group is known for several hits, including "Barranquillero Arrebatao," "Cachondea," "Cali De Rumba," "Charanga Campesina," "El Patillero," "Los Charcos," "Pura Candela," "Tania," and "El Preso," the latter being one of Colombia's most beloved songs. Prominent former members include a lead vocalist who joined in 1973 and later pursued a solo career, as well as Wilson "Saoko" Manyoma, who contributed lead vocals on significant tracks like "El Preso" before also embarking on a solo journey.
