Fruko y sus Tesos is a renowned salsa group from Colombia, founded in 1970 by Julio Ernesto Estrada, known artistically as "Fruko." The group was inspired by the New York City salsa sound of the Fania All-Stars, which was a leading salsa ensemble at the time. Fruko y sus Tesos has gained immense popularity across Latin America and the United States and is often regarded as one of Colombia's most significant musical exports. The group is celebrated for several hit songs, including "Barranquillero Arrebatao," "Cachondea," "Cali De Rumba," "Charanga Campesina," "El Patillero," "Los Charcos," "Pura Candela," "Tania," and "El Preso," the latter being one of Colombia's most beloved tracks. Notable former members include those who joined in 1973 and sang lead vocals for several years before launching solo careers, as well as Wilson "Saoko" Manyoma, who provided lead vocals on key tracks like "El Preso" before also pursuing a solo path.
