Fuchsia was an orchestral progressive folk rock band from England, formed in 1970 by Tony Durant at Exeter University. Initially, Durant collaborated with Mike Gregory, who later joined the Albion Band, and Mick Day on bass, performing as a three-piece heavy rock band that incorporated elements of theatre and poetry. Influenced by classical music, Durant aimed to create two sets of music: one in a heavier rock style and the other featuring strings. He recruited string players Janet Rogers, Madeleine Bland, and Vanessa Hall-Smith to enhance their sound. The band recorded an album in 1971, but it failed to gain attention at the time. They produced another demo later that year, featuring tracks like "The Band" and "Ragtime Brahms," but still faced disinterest and ultimately disbanded. Over the years, however, the album achieved cult classic status, leading to the recording of a follow-up album 40 years later. The resurgence of the 1971 album's popularity is documented in "The Story of an Album, Lost and Found," a film by The Cairnes Brothers.
