Fumio Hayasaka (1914–1955) was a prominent Japanese classical and film composer. He organized the New Music League in 1933 and received several awards for his chamber works, including the Weingartner Prize in 1938 for his piece "Kodai no bukyoku." His early compositions also featured a Nocturne for piano in 1936 and the orchestral work "Ancient Dance" in 1938. In 1939, Hayasaka moved to Tokyo to pursue a career as a film composer, quickly establishing himself as a significant figure in Japanese cinematographic music and scoring numerous films.
