Fumio Miyashita (フミオ) was a Japanese musician and composer, born on January 6, 1949, in Nagano, Japan. He was proficient in playing the flute, acoustic guitar, harmonica, and synthesizer. Miyashita was a founding member of two pioneering progressive/space rock bands during the mid-'70s. Following the breakup of the Far East Family Band around 1977, he began creating solo electronic music and composing soundtracks. He eventually focused on making music for healing, meditation, therapy, and sleep, releasing over a hundred albums that achieved significant sales in Japan. Fumio Miyashita passed away on February 6, 2003.
