FU is a hardcore punk band from Boston that was formed in 1981. In 1986, they changed their name to adopt a heavier metal and hard rock sound. The band's name was inspired by a comment made by Wendy O. Williams in an interview, where she suggested that "punk rock is a way of saying ‘F you’ to society."
