Futurologischer Congress is a German NDW band from Berlin, formed in 1981 from the core of the trio Trio Heyder-Wastel-Tröndle. The band's name is inspired by Stanisław Lem's book "Der Futurologische Kongress," published in 1971 and translated into German in 1974. They self-published their debut album "Posthum" and gained recognition after winning a band contest, with their winning title "Heimatlied" pressed as a prize. Following a TV broadcast, they signed with Teldec and released music through the label. The band expanded to 13 musicians in 1982 and recorded two albums and several singles until 1984. Their third LP remained unreleased due to internal disputes, leading to the band's disbandment in 1984. They reunited in 1992 under the name "Futurologen" to release a new LP titled "Feuer."
