Gabriel Alonso Suárez Romero, known as Gabriel Romero, was born on September 20, 1943, in Sabanagrande, Atlantic, Colombia. From a young age, he showed a passion for music, starting to sing at ice cream carts when he was just five years old. By the age of twelve, he had formed a set orchestra that accompanied him at local parties, laying the groundwork for his future career in music. Although he initially pursued studies in agricultural practices at university, the allure of music remained strong, influenced in part by his father, who was also a singer known for his bold themes. Gabriel Romero sought to carve his own path in the music industry, beginning with Vallenato music and later performing with groups such as La Sonora Sensation and The Orchestra Pacho Galán.
