Gadfrey Lewis, born on February 21, 1954, in Bambury, Jamaica, spent his childhood in Jamaica before moving to London at the age of 12 with his parents. The diverse musical styles he encountered in London ignited his passion for music. He later spent nine years in Germany, working as a self-employed disc jockey. In the spring of 1981, Gadfrey returned to Jamaica to pursue his musical ideas, where he met Bob Marley and Burning Spear. This led to the recording of his first record with the collaboration of several reggae musicians. His music gained significant popularity in Jamaica, as confirmed by various interviews in the press, radio, and TV. Gadfrey made his first public appearance on December 23, 1981, in Kingston, Jamaica.
