GAIA is a collaboration between Dutch Trance DJs and producers, initially started by Armin van Buuren alone in 2000. The project was revived in 2009 when Benno joined Armin as a co-producer. The duo made their debut as a DJ team at Miami's ULTRA Music Festival in 2014, performing a one and a half hour set. They also played live for the first time in Europe at The Heineken Music Hall during the Amsterdam Dance Event in 2014.
