Gakidou is a Japanese goth band formed in 1985 in Matsuyama-city, Ehime-ken. They relocated to Tokyo shortly after their formation. Initially, the band played Batcave-esque, pure and old-school goth/deathrock. Between 1986 and 1988, their musical style evolved into goth and post-punk with avant-garde influences, drawing comparisons to Virgin Prunes, and they became known for their doomy theatrical live performances. Gakidou broke up in 1988 but reformed in 2013.
