Galaxians is a music group formed in 2012 in Leeds by Matt and Jed, who initially played their first show together. In 2015, vocalist Emma Mason joined the band. The group draws inspiration from 80s New York and Chicago labels such as SAM, Are 'n' Bee, TRAX, and Sleeping Bag, as well as producers like Leroy Burgess and John Morales. Galaxians blend classic Roland TR analog drum machine sounds with acoustic drums and live-played analog synthesizers. The lineup features vocals, a Roland JX3P synthesizer, a Nord Electro synthesizer, and Ludwig/Gretsch acoustic drums, along with programming elements.
