Ganger is a band formed in March 1995 in Glasgow, originally conceived with a krautrock influence, inspired by the sounds of bands like Can, Neu!, and Kraftwerk. The initial lineup included Stuart Henderson (bass, keyboards, mandolin, percussion), Graham Gavin (bass & guitar), James A Young (drums, percussion & keyboards), Lucy Mckenzie (guitar, clarinet, keyboard), and two drummers. Over the years, the lineup evolved, with Martin Allen (keyboards & turntables) and Caroline (sax) joining at various points. In June 1997, Ganger played their last gig with the original lineup, supporting Squarepusher in Stirling. Following this, they reformed with a new lineup featuring Craig B (guitars & vocals), Natasha Noramly (bass & vocals), James A Young (drums), and Stuart Henderson. The band's music has transformed since the early days, although both Craig and Natasha have distanced themselves from the krautrock label. Ganger's early releases were on local labels such as Vesuvius and Planet Records, leading to a deal with Domino Records, which included a series of 12" releases and the compilation "Fore." Their first proper album, "Hammock Style," was released in 1998, alongside a trilogy of 12" remixes. While much of their music is instrumental, they incorporate vocals as an additional element rather than a focal point
