Gang's Back is a six-member music group formed in Fresno, California, in 1976. The members include Fresno Cruz on vocals and saxophone, Rick Gonzalez on guitar, Robert Ramirez on drums, Richard Cruz on keyboards and trumpet, Arturo Aldana on bass, and Joe Cruz on trombone. The group is known for blending R&B, Funk Jazz, Latin, and pop influences, creating a unique sound on the West Coast club circuit. By 1980, they were sharing the stage with notable headliners such as Tower Of Power, Jose Whatley, Shalamar, War, G.Q., and Tierra. In 1981, Gang's Back signed with Handshake Records, a subsidiary of Columbia, and released their self-titled debut LP, produced by Barney Perkins, who had previously worked with the Supremes and The Temptations, alongside co-producer Tony Coleman, known for his songwriting contributions to Quincy Jones and James Ingram.
