Gang's Back is a six-member musical group formed in Fresno, California, in 1976. The members include Fresno Cruz on vocals and saxophone, Rick Gonzalez on guitar, Robert Ramirez on drums, Richard Cruz on keyboards and trumpet, Arturo Aldana on bass, and Joe Cruz on trombone. The group blends R&B, funk, jazz, Latin, and pop influences to create a unique sound that has resonated on the West Coast club circuit. By 1980, they were sharing the stage with notable headliners such as Tower Of Power, Jose Whatley, Shalamar, War, G.Q., Tierra, and others. In 1981, Gang's Back signed with Handshake Records, a subsidiary of Columbia, and released their self-titled debut LP. The album was produced by Barney Perkins, known for his work with the Supremes and The Temptations, and co-produced by Tony Coleman, who has written for Quincy Jones and James Ingram.
