Gary Byrd was a notable radio talk-show host in the '80s and '90s, known for his work on WLIB in New York City. His musical journey began in the '60s when he wrote the lyrics for "Black Man" and "Village Ghetto Land," both featured on Stevie Wonder's "Songs In The Key Of Life." In 1983, Byrd collaborated with Wonder again to co-write the historical and inspirational track "The Crown," which was released as a 12-inch on Wonder's label, with Wonder also contributing to its production and vocals. Additionally, Byrd served as a disc jockey in England in 1984, where he hosted a gospel radio program.
