Gary Higgins is an American folk singer-songwriter born in Sharon, Connecticut. In 1972, he recorded the album "Red Hash," featuring songs he wrote, along with several band members. The album, which remained largely unnoticed for nearly three decades, found its way to Russia, where it was unlawfully turned into a CD. This pirated version eventually made its way back to America, where it garnered a cult following among fans of psychedelic rock. In response to this resurgence, Zack Cowie and Ben Chasny of "Six Organs of Admittance," along with Chicago-based Drag City Records, located Gary and facilitated an official re-release of "Red Hash" in 2005, using mixes from the original album. The reissue included two new songs and was packaged with the original LP artwork, bringing the band into national and international recognition. In 2008, Gary recorded another album titled "Seconds" on the same label, laying down more new tracks.
