Gavin Christopher was a soul, funk, and R&B singer, songwriter, and producer born on May 1, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He passed away on March 4, 2016. Gavin was the brother of a house diva and began his music career with the group Lyfe, where he met several influential artists. He later joined a collective that included members of various groups. Throughout his career, he wrote songs for notable artists and released four solo albums between 1976 and 1988, with his biggest hit being "One Step Closer To You." Gavin also produced artists across various genres, from hip hop to emerging young talent.
