After leaving Motown in the late 1970s, Cameron toured as an independent artist and recorded a critically acclaimed album for Malaco Records in 1983. His career saw a revival in 1989 through recordings for British record companies Ardent and Motorcity. From 2000 to 2002, he returned to The Spinners and also recorded another solo album. In 2003, Cameron replaced Barrington "Bo" Henderson as one of the lead singers of The Temptations, contributing to their album "Reflections." He sang lead on the track "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)," which was nominated for a Grammy in 2007. Cameron left The Temptations in June 2007 to focus on his group
