**Genaside II Bio** Genaside II was an influential British breakbeat, rave, and UK hardcore band active from 1989 until 2002, recognized as pioneers of the jungle and big beat genres. Founded by Kris Ogden in South London's Brixton district, the group also included Paul Hamilton and had a rotating cast of members and collaborators over the years. In 1990, Ogden produced and released the initial 12" singles under the Genaside II name on a well-regarded underground label. The band gained prominence after Ogden teamed up with Danny Gee, producing the "cut'n'paste" raggamuffin/jungle 12", a Pirate Radio Classic. The following year, they released the underground hit "Narra Mine," featuring soulful vocals and intense breakbeat ragga beats, which became a significant track in the local hardcore scene and is recognized as a milestone in early drum and bass history. Genaside II attracted the attention of Liam Howlett from The Prodigy, who praised their innovative big beat sound and commissioned a remix for his 1992 single. Despite their initial success, Genaside II faced personal conflicts within the crew, leading to a hiatus with no new material for four years.
