Gene Dunlap, born on June 19, 1954, is an American drummer and Grammy Award-nominated musician hailing from Detroit, Michigan. He learned to play the drums from his father and further developed his skills at Detroit Mumford High School, where he collaborated with a friend and guitarist. In the early 1980s, Dunlap released three solo albums: "It’s Just the Way I Feel," "Party In Me," and "Tired of Being a Nice Guy," all under Capitol Records. Following these solo projects, he reunited with Earl Klugh, with whom he has recorded and toured extensively. Throughout his career, Dunlap has also worked on various projects with other prominent recording artists. He is known for playing Gretsch drums and Bosphorus cymbals.
