Gene Norman was an American concert promoter and DJ based in Los Angeles, known for his work on KLAC and KFWB from 1947 to 1964. He was also a record label owner, having founded Gene Norman Presents in 1954, which later evolved into a more prominent label. In 1948, he launched a jazz concert event alongside another DJ, along with a related label. His early records featured notable jazz sessions with artists such as Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Clifford Brown, Max Roach, Miles Davis, Lionel Hampton, and Dizzy Gillespie. Additionally, he owned a jazz club on the famous Sunset Strip, where many jazz and Latin music stars, including Miles Davis, George Shearing, and Tito Puente, performed, alongside cutting-edge comedians like Lenny Bruce, Mort Sahl, Woody Allen, Bob Newhart, Shecky Greene, Dick Gregory, and Shelly Berman. Gene Norman passed away on November 2, 2015, in Los Angeles, California.
