Gene Terry is a swamp pop musician born on January 7, 1940, in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was raised in Port Arthur, Texas, where his primary musical influences came from his father and grandfather, who performed Cajun songs. In the mid-1950s, he formed his first band, initially playing country and western music before transitioning to rock and roll.
