Larry Perigo is a musician from Nashville, Tennessee, who began playing guitar at the age of nine and took up the violin in fourth grade. He started his singing career in bands in 1963 and was encouraged by a band member to try the saxophone, which led him to become a part of several popular local bands throughout the 1960s. In 1969, his band, The General Assembly Show, performed on the Phil Harris Show in Las Vegas alongside the Harry James Orchestra and Frank Sinatra, Jr., providing him with invaluable experience. After returning to Nashville, he formed The Headliners, which debuted on April 23, 1973, as a four-piece band. The Headliners quickly gained popularity in Nashville and were invited to perform again with Phil Harris at the Fairmont Hotel in New Orleans, featuring the Pete Fountain Orchestra. They also played shows in a Las Vegas lounge.
