General Caine is an American funk group that was active in the late 1970s and early 1980s. They signed with Groove Time Records in 1978 and released two albums: “Let Me In” in 1978 and “Get Down Attack” in 1980. Later, they moved to Tabu Records, where they released their third album titled “Girls,” which included the hit song “For Lovers Only.” This song was notably used by the radio station WZAK in Cleveland, Ohio, as the theme for their late-night segment of the same name. Their debut single for Tabu and their fourth album, “Dangerous,” featured significant songwriting contributions from Johnny Guitar Carson. After a brief stint at Capitol Records, where they released a single called “Where’s The Beef?”, a streamlined version of the group with new writers and producers signed with Motown Records in the mid-1980s and subsequently changed their name.
