Genesis is a British rock band formed in 1967 at Charterhouse School in Godalming, Surrey, South East England. They are recognized as one of the top 30 highest-selling recording artists of all time. The band's early work featured complex song structures, elaborate instrumentation, and the theatrical performances of founding member and vocalist Peter Gabriel, who left the band on August 15, 1975. Following his departure, drummer Phil Collins took over lead vocal duties. This transition, along with the exit of guitarist Steve Hackett two years later, led the remaining members—Phil Collins, keyboardist Tony Banks, and bassist/guitarist Mike Rutherford—to adopt a more accessible pop-oriented sound, resulting in significant popularity during the 1980s and early 1990s. In 1996, Phil Collins left to focus on his solo career, prompting Banks and Rutherford to continue with new vocalist Ray Wilson. This lineup produced one album, 1997's "Calling All Stations," which received poor performance and critical reception, leading to a hiatus for the band. In 2006, after years of speculation, Collins, Banks, and Rutherford reunited for the successful "Turn It On Again" tour. Discussions about a reunion involving ex-members Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett continue to be a topic of interest but have yet to materialize. Genesis was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. The band's members have included: - Peter Gabriel – lead vocals, flute,
