Genesis P-Orridge was a British singer/songwriter, musician, writer, and artist, born on 22 February 1950 in Manchester, England. They legally changed their name by deed poll to Genesis P-Orridge on 5 January 1971. Throughout their career, they challenged social boundaries with their art and played a significant role in redefining music, becoming influential in the UK dance music sub-culture. Genesis P-Orridge courted controversy with images of piercings featured in the RE:Search book "Modern Primitives" and engaged in experimental video projects, which led to an eight-year exile from the UK. A near-death experience prompted them to pursue extreme body modification alongside their wife, Lady Jaye, in their quest to become the 'pandrogyne.' In 2003, they changed their identity to Genesis/Djin Breyer P-Orridge. Genesis P-Orridge passed away on 14 March 2020 in New York City, USA, at the age of 70.
